 Hello, Daly Families-

We hope you had a good week and are starting to get into the swing of things with a new school year. Thanks to those of you who were able to join us at our first HSA meeting of the year on Friday. It was great to see some new faces and catch up with everyone. We had a nice turnout and a lively conversation with Principal Laguarda and Brian Graham, director of facilities for the district. One of our goals this year is to use our HSA meeting time together to facilitate conversations you’d like to have, so please let us know when there’s a topic you’d like to discuss.

We also had a great kickoff meeting last week with the committee chairs who run all the events, represent Daly at the district level, and keep things running smoothly throughout the year. Here is a directory of all those incredible volunteers. If you have a question about who handles something for the HSA, this is a great place to look.

The coming week is a big one in town, as we celebrate Pride in Port. On Wednesday, we will send home Daly flags for all the kids, along with a flyer on where to bring them:

  • Friday, Sept 22 is our Walk Back to School. Bring your Daly flag, wear blue, and meet at one of the 3 spots as we kick off Pride in Port weekend with a walk to school that morning. We’ll bring the coffee, you bring the Daly spirit.

  • Saturday, Sept. 23 is the Pride in Port day. All Daly kids are invited to walk with the school, and we will meet behind Carlo’s at 11. Make sure your child signs their name on the large blue stars for their grade; there’s a pizza or ice cream party for the class with the most people there! We will have themed props and tattoos for the kids. Bring your flag, and wear Daly shirts or something blue!

If you find yourself with some great pics from any of these events and you’d like us to feature them on our social channels, just email photos@dalyhsa.org with a note of what it is and any people or social handles you’d like us to mention.

Other upcoming events and volunteer opportunities are:

  • Fiesta In The Park on Oct. 1 from 2-6pm is a community event held in Blumenfeld Park to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Daly will have a booth where we’ll be making a craft with kids. SIGN UP TO HELP here

  • The HSA’s Fall Plant and Pumpkin Sale is on Oct. 6. You can pre-order large orders for pick-up the day before, and you can shop with your child during their teacher’s slot on Friday; times will be announced soon. Just contact Jessica.Bughman@gmail.com if you’d like to volunteer at the sale. Order forms are below and are due back SEPT. 25! Order Form English HERE Spanish HERE

And now, for another . . .

Daly Fun Fact!

At the beginning of this school year, you donated nearly 300 pairs of sneakers to raise money for the 5th-grade activities. NICE WORK, all-STARRs! A huge thanks to Resti Ioanna for collecting them and handling the donations this year. Here’s what that looks like (below):

Have a wonderful week, and L’ Shana Tova to those who celebrate Rosh Hashanah.
